Colorado License Reinstatement and DMV Status

A stated suspension or revocation period and the reinstatement of driving privileges are separate concepts. A date appearing on a notice does not, by itself, describe every condition or action on a driver’s record. This page provides general information about those distinctions, not a determination of anyone’s current driving status.

Restraint periods and reinstatement

The Colorado DMV’s reinstatement application, DR 2870, describes reinstatement requirements and a Letter of Clearance. The applicable requirements depend on the basis and status of the DMV action. A general date calculation is not a determination that those requirements are complete.

Court records and driver-control records

A traffic or DUI court record and an administrative driver-license record are distinct. The Colorado Department of Revenue Hearings Division describes administrative proceedings concerning licenses. A court disposition does not necessarily resolve a separate agency action.

Different reasons for a license action

Point-related, alcohol-related, and other licensing actions arise under different provisions. Multiple actions may appear on one record. A general overview cannot establish which requirements apply to an individual driver or whether a hearing or other procedure is available. myDMV is the state’s official online portal for driver services.
